Mind Games

Well, it’s taken a while but here is my first assignment for ds106. I made the mistake of looking at what others had posted and suddenly felt too inadequate for this course. I’m kind of scared to post this after seeing everything else that has been shared by others but, here goes…

Vodpod videos no longer available.

This all seemed like such a simple task… I have never had a good reason to finally try out Prezi so I thought why not put some images into a Prezi, talk over it and then share it with you.

Well, Prezi was a bit temperamental – at one point everything was rotated 45 degrees and I have no idea how or why and about 8 tabs were open before I realized that whenever i viewed my work it opened another tab. Then to record the slideshow without buying anything I downloaded Jing. That seemed straightforward but, of course it took about 5 takes to actually have the appropriate recording area selected. Then I wasn’t sure how to embed all of this into my blog… Apparentlty, Vodpod was the answer.

With any luck you will be able to see my very feeble attempt at introducing myself through a 30-second story about something that happened to me recently.

  1. As a teacher, I know that feelings of inadequacy, a need to fit in, fear, trepidation are normal at the start of a course. We’re all coming from different backgrounds and with a wealth of different skills and experiences, but each person will find their strength during the course and probably find scaffolds for their weaknesses. I’m feeling the same.
    You’ve made a great start.

  2. I know what you mean about being intimidated by some of the other submissions, but I think you did a great job. Your story is concise, but totally relatable, especially for someone like me who’s extremely forgetful.
